Suggestions for a better lens that will get me a much better closeup?????
+1 for the 150-600 models. Keep in mind that this class of lens requires an upgraded skillset too! (that Digi’ has certainly acquired ).
We had a pair of hummers in the neighborhood last summer (first ever) that would visit a couple times a day. I’d set out a lawn chair (about 15 feet away) and read my kindle with my camera across my lap, then shoot when one would arrive. Got lucky a few times...
Canon 70D with 400/5.6L. 1/250 sec (slow shutter) @ f/5.6 ISO 800. Cropped a bit, with noise reduction. Click on “original size”
A newer (higher MP) body than the 650D would also help a bit. The increased IQ would allow more cropping, and also decrease noise (by about a stop).
Best of luck to you!
