i have been going through my lenses for landscape and wondering if i should purchase a canon 16-35 f4.0 IS. i am sure those who own 16-35 can answer this question better. what i have at this point is:

24-105 f4.0 (original)

24-70 f2.8 II

17-40 f4.0

24 f1.4 II

35 f1.4

canon TSE 24

TSE 17

would you get a 16-35 f4.0 IS, still? i use those lenses on my 1dmk4 and 1Dx, and 17-40 on my 40D! i use my 100-400 II on my 1Dx strictly for sunsets, it works wonderful. i know all about those lenses i have listed but don't know if a 16-35 would fit in that crowd that would be useful! i don't have any complaint about the performance of any of those lenses except that i use my 17-40 on my aps-c ,only. i would love to read your input and responses!

Based on what I have (24-105 f4; 24-70 f2.8ii; 16-35 f4 is; 35 f1.4 ii), I'll offer my opinion.  To me the 24-70 f2.8 is very nice on the wide end (24mm).  I've done many duplicate shots using it and the 16-35 f4.  I don't think you'll notice much difference at 24-35, although I probably favor the 24-70 slightly.  To me the only reason to keep the 16-35 f4 is for going wider than 24mm, plus it does have IS if you can't use a pod.  However, the 24-70 does f2.8, assuming  you can brace it well for stability if needed.  Otherwise use a tripod.  Although the 35 f1.4 ii is sharper than the others at 35mm, the 24-70 has great versatility of range.
