Next thing to do is making two diffusors. And try it on my EOS R as well, though I probably won’t use that camera for macro.

Tested the R also and the R and YN24 are not a happy couple, like the 6DII and 80D are. Shooting in E-TTL is heavily underexposed, better with FEL, but still underexposed. Using it in M mode works fine (off course I'd say). A pity, but not a problem to me, as I will have the 6DII or 80D as my main cameras for macro.

Get used to manual Id say. I rarely use TTL for macro bc I end up adjusting compensation so much that i might as well shoot manual. May it have been your scene that caused the ttl issue?

I often do use manual, but TTL is nice for moving subjects, where it is manual that ends up in adjusting. So I would like to have both options available.

And no, I don’t think it’s the scene that caused the issue. Tried different scenes, where both DSLR  did fine and the R did not. Haven’t used the R for flash photography much though, so going to try further.
