I made a similar comparison, including also the Sony A7Riii... It seems to me that the Phase One XF 100MP is better, but the Panasonic S1R's results can be considered impressive, especially when compared to the A7Riii. No sharpening applied at all.

It's a bit difficult, because you are not sharpening S1R image (and out of the camera it is indeed softer, with less resolution), yet moiré reduction is working behind the scenes for Phase One 100MP - just look at the dump of green channels (click original):

Phase One 100MP, 1:1 crop from the green channel

Panasonic S1R hires, 1:1 crop from the green channel

Iliah, those look like 50% crops.

This is just one of the green channels, so, yes, 1/4 of pixels.

What should we be seeing here that's the give away of green channel based moire reduction in the Phase One?

The lack of moiré on the final render.

What I see in Photoshop for the ACR converted rendering of the Phase One is lots of nasty aliasing/false detail in the red and blue channels but a pretty clean looking green channel. Isn't that what one would expect to see? Thanks.
