Tempted by choices... used Sigma 100-400mm vs used Sony 100-400mm

I have a Sony a6300 and a small selection of zoom lenses. I would still like to get a longer zoom, mostly to capture wildlife in the distance and even far-off mountain views. I currently own the Sigma MC-11 and I have found the Sigma 100-400mm f5-6.3 ($500) and Sony 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 ($2,000) used, locally. I think that the Sony would be the choice for moving animals, sports, etc., but I don't know how much of that I will shoot. Personally, I find shooting BIF difficult. Also, $2,000 is a bit of a commitment.

Is the AF performance of the Sigma 100-400mm+MC-11 "good"?  ...good enough for something like a dog running towards the camera?  Of the two deals I found above, which would be the way to go?  I mean, is one deal "stellar"?
