Hey guys

I switched from Nikon to Sony not long ago, got the 55mm 1.8 and the 85mm 1.8.

So my thoughts for completing the focal length are between the new 24mm 1.4 GM and the 16-35mm 2.8 GM. I know they are both light lenses and I can get a really good deal on both of them.

Since I already have the Nikkor 14-24 2.8 (with a manual adapter for the Sony) do you think the 24mm is more suitable? The 24mm for me would also be almost half the price of the 16-35mm and that's also good worth taking into account.

Thanks

It really depends on what you are planning on using this lens for. Do you need f/1.4? Do you need the IQ of a prime lens? Are you using it for landscapes? environmental portraits? Does getting the 24mm mean you will need to buy additional lenses in the future?

If you are looking for something wider than 55mm, I would first and foremost have a look at the Sony Zeiss 35/1.4. I'm saying that because a good 35/1.4 is probably the most useful and versatile "wide" lens one can ever own. Sure, it is not as "hot off the press" as the 24/1.4, but I find the focal length 100x more useful.

If you are looking for something ultra wide, you should also look into the Zeiss Loxia 21/2.8 because it will offer you the best image quality you can get from an UWA in the Sony system.
