Facebook's compression questions
1

Facebook's recommended upload size is 2048px the long way, right?  But then FB adds more jpeg type compression that makes them look a bit softer it looks like.  Or what do you think FB is doing?

And what happens when we upload a 7000px image?  I keep hearing that it will not appear as sharp as their recommended 2048px, but if the larger file is softer I am not seeing much of that.  Are you?  I usually just upload 2048px but am curious since occasionally I'll grab a high res file.

So what size file do you upload to FB for best quality and why?  To be fair if you uploaded a 7000px file wouldn't it need higher sharpening settings than the 2048px file because of the higher resolution and pixel density at the time of sharpening?
