Clogged printheads

I am an infrequent printer of family photos and documents. Sometimes when we are traveling for 3 or 4 weeks our printheads dry out and we can not print. This has happened to 4 Canon printers over 8 years. The last 2 printers have printheads that cannot be removed for cleaning purposes.

Three questions:

A. I assume the new ink tank/reservoir printers use the same inkjet technology so their printheads would also dry up. Does anyone know if their printheads can be removed and cleaned?

B. Would HP inkjet printers that use the printhead built into the cartridge be better for infrequently used printers?

C. Would a monochrome laser printer for documents and using a printing service like Shutterfly for color photo prints be best in my case?

Thanks for your advice and help.
