Oly 75-300 vs Pany 50-200

Hello everybody

I'm currently an owner of the Olympus 75-300 Zoom.
It's a decent lens for the price... however, I don't like how slow it is. Especially because you have to stop it down to get decent results.

Therefore, I'm considering the way more expensive Panasonic 50-200 2.8 - 4.0

I have a couple of questions and hopefully some of you guys are able to help me out:

I have to say I don't like to loosing the reach of the 300mm :/
200mm is much less and since I shot wildlife with it... going from 300 to 200 is quite a loss.

My main idea was: Considering the better sharpness and less noise, a cropped image of the Panny taken at 200mm f4 would maybe look almost as good as an image taken with the Oly at 300mm on f8... since that one is less sharp and will have more noise.

What do you think about that? Is that reasonable?

Furthermore, some other questions:

  • Does DUAL-IS work with the 50-200 on the G80? (aka G81/G85)
  • Does DUAL-IS also work if I would add the Panny TC14 Teleconverter?
  • Does the 50-200 also work well on Olympus OM-D bodies? (without DUAL-IS of course)

Thanks a lot,
