I looked carefully at the woodpecker photo, and don't see any evidence of motion blur, but the image does not seem particularly sharp. AF may have focused on the tree trunk.

Woodpeckers, except when they are pecking, don't move a lot, so I would dispense with the 1/1000 shutter and 800 ISO. Use base ISO, maybe 1/400 shutter and f/6.3.

You probably already know that the image you show has the whites blown out. Maybe the raw has more details.

Also, I recently shot (for the first time) some woodpecker photos - I found them pretty casual about people nearby and was able to get pix of a bird on a low branch not more than 20 feet away.
