Tripod head for arthritic thumbs?

I just recently got the P1000 and want to be able to use a tripod for various land and sky subjects.  I'm looking for something that will allow quick macro moves, but also assist with fine incremental movement as you zoom in.  The subjects will be sky, boats, birds - some a mile away.

I ordered the Manfrotto 410 3-way but it's going back. The problem is I have arthritis in my thumbs and don't have the strength to grip/turn with the snap-lock controls.

The Manfrotto 400 has some fold out crank knobs, which could be fantastic, but it looks like it's more for fine movement and not designed for quick macro moves.

I'm not hung up on Manfrotto.  Any suggestions of heads that might work would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
