Best way to restore photo when 1 dye has faded more than the other 2?

I don't know much about how to properly adjust color values within software to restore the color of scans of old photos. Mostly I just hit the equivalent of a "magic wand" button and often that does the trick well enough.

However, I have some photos where it is evident that one of the dyes has faded much faster than the other 2 and "magic wand" or "remove color cast" type fixes don't work.

Can anyone give a novice some advice on how to properly restore the correct color values?

Attached is an example.

I have some basic Mac software: Pixelmator, Photoshop Elements (older version), Aperture, Vuescan.

Thanks.
