A65000 with Vivitar 400mm 5.6 lens. First test shots

So, I finally got my Vivitar 400mm 5.6 legacy lens in. Looks nice on my Sony A6500

I ran out to test it first. It is clear from these test shot that I need to play with it some more to get comfortable with it.

I thought I would post these shots anyways and see what you guys think about this lens. Can it do better, or is this about normal for this lens? All shot are original with no PP. All shots with taken with Auto-WB. All shots were taken hands-off from a tripod with a 2-Second Timer. The focus was achieved with Focus Magnifier.

This shot was taken with my Helicoid adapter extended which lets me foot four feet closer than normal.

Texas Butterfly Gaura (Oenothera lindheimeri) https://thejungleexplorer.com/texas-indian-feather-flower

This little bird sat on this limb about 25 feet away and posed for me while I set up my camera, leveled up and focused on him. I just wish the sun would have been on the opposite side of him.

Taken with Helcoid extended
