Bird Photography Question-Decisions, Decisions?

Ok, I have two different camera systems I am looking at for doing more bird photography...one is the Pentax KP with the 300/4 and teleconverter, the other is the Nikon D7500 with the Tamron 100-400.  Both offer weather resistance. Anyone have experience with either or both of these outfits? Would be interested in hearing your thoughts. I have reviewed images from both systems and each look pretty good. The Pentax 300/4 gives wonderful colors and bokeh. The Tamron lens is not bad either. One of the things I am concerned with is weight as I plan on hiking with whatever system wins out.  I have shot with Pentax for years, never shot with a Nikon.  So, any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
