24mm GM vs sigma 40mm f1.4

I did a series of shots with the 24mm GM at APSC mode vs the 40mm f1.4 for background blur comparison.

I find Sigma lens tends to render bokeh as rings, especially in the transition regions where the subject distance is further and the seperation between the subject and background is not high. My old sigma 35mm is worse I think.

The sony GM renders in a way very similar to my sony 35mm f1.4. However both the sony 24mm and 35mm suffers from LoCA especially the 35mm which lights up neon green...

Do you guys like the background rendering of the 40mm? I think it is pretty nice if you if the subject is closer but slightly messy if it is not.

Is does show that the 24mm at APSC mode is not good enough to replace a true 35mm/40mm f1.4. The amount of blur is significantly more and better on a true 35mm/40mm.

40mm

24mm closer subject distance

40 mm closer subject distance.
