I found an XA1 model, apparently in very good condition, for a relatively good price? (CAD $270.00, my budget is very limited at the moment) and I missed the APS-C sensor as well the famous Fuji JEPG SOOC in my photography.

Is that with the 16-50mm? If it's body only I wouldn't go much higher than $150 CAD. I picked up both my X-M1 and X-A1 each for under $100 US (about $133 CAD currently).

I’m familiar with Fuji cams, as I owned some of them since the P&S era;)But I never tried a Fuji Mirrorless. For what I read, it is not a an ultra fast camera, as far as AF is concern, FPS ,etc... Other than that is anything else I need to know about this model?

The X-A1 and X-M1 came with the old first version of the XC 16-50mm. The second version of that lens improves things slightly. Due to the age of these cameras you will lose full feature compatibility with a couple of the newer lenses (XC 15-45mm for example). They'll still work, just not all features. Moving up the model chart gets you some extras:

  • X-A2: full flip screen (for selfies); bundled with 16-50mm II (v2)
  • X-E2 / X-E2s: EVF + Phase Detect AF points
  • X-A10: full flip screen + compatibility with new lenses
  • X-A3: 24mp sensor, full flip touchscreen + compatibility with new lenses

Beyond these, you are likely pushing that $270 CAD ($200 US) budget.

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The 16mp bodies are fun play things and the colors are nice. The X-M1/X-A1/X-A2 have slightly better build quality than the newer X-A10/X-A20 and X-A3/X-A5. There are some lens-free X-A5s for around $270 CAD on eBay right now. That is another model worth considering for slightly faster operation and some limited Phase-Detect AF points. If this is just to experiment in Fuji, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these... just don't expect anything blazing fast.

Recaptcha,

To answer your question, for that price, (cad$270.00)yes the XA1 comes with the 16-50mm kit lens.. Ibdid not know about a second version kit lens? Yes, as you can see from my signature, I own other cams, so this is just me, checking out Fuji mirror less World;)..

The X-A1 was the first model in the Fuji range to use a Bayer sensor (the conventional type) rather than the Fuji proprietary X-Trans; other than that and the colour combinations of the body covering (and in the case of the all-black, the texture of the body covering) it is physically identical to the X-Trans equipped X-M1 which launched before it. As others have said, these models have a tilt screen (normal angle range, i.e. for shooting overhead and at waist level) and were also the first Fujis with normal PSAM mode dials rather than the traditional-style shutter speed dial on the body. The X-A1 has nice image quality; like the X-M1 its bodywork is all-plastic (no metal covers here, though the top dials are metal) and it's quite easy to tell this when handling it - but it is consequently light. In modern terms it's a rather sedate performer as far as speed goes, and lacking some of the niceties introduced to the range as time has passed. It uses the same size battery as the rest of the Fuji X range. You probably already know that it has no EVF, and no method to add one. Mechanical shutter only (no silent shutter feature, nor EFCS; the latter so far only appears on the X-H1 and X-T3 anyway).

The original-type 16-50 XC lens it was supplied with looks identical to the 16-50 XC II which has just been discontinued and which superceded it; both are impressive performers optically for their price (the II is marked II on the product label under the mount and on the name ring around the optics) - the II improved the IBIS a little and more significantly, provided a much closer minimum focus ability.

Thanks Helen, ReCaptcha, Justin 9999, For your valuable input, If everything goes well I should get to see the cam today or tomorrow.

Helen, you just reminded me that the XA1 does not have the EFCS feature, not a deal breaker for me anyway ( I do have other cams with that), but one thing it comes to my mind to ask, is if anyone knows if  this particular model suffers of any shutter shock at all? the reason I'm asking is because  I have the Oly EPL5 and the shutter shock can rise it's ugly ears depending on the condition, as it does not have any EFCS to eliminate that...
