The new firmware came out this afternoon. I expect that DPR will have something to say about this in the next couple of days.

Up til now, the AF has been better than the 5D4. I have heard reports that the new firmware makes it even better.

But what does ‘better’ mean?

More accurate? Faster to acquire focus? Better able to track in complicated situations?

Better means nothing and no one is doing helpful tests side by side of they two cameras in a variety is use case scenarios

You have to wait and see , the FW update is launched today

I'm also waiting to read more specific thoughts about AF performance after fw-update, using different af modes in different kind of situations, compared to RP & other cameras etc.

Just give it some time.... it will comeĀ
