I have a T7i and have very mixed feelings about the camera. I mainly keep it because I like using the 35mm f2.8 macro. Also the value of these things on the used market is disappointing.

The good: excellent and fast auto-focus, good battery life. The T7i should handle like the T5 making the transition easier. I only shoot in RAW and at moderate ISOs image quality is generally fine. In my experience the auto-focus is the main selling point of the T7i but only the buyer can judge how important that is.

The not so good: this is an inexplicably large although not heavy camera. You really need to audition the thing to see if that matters to you. The video is 1080 which also may not matter to you. If those things matter and you want to stay Canon look into the SL2 or newer SL3 which are smaller, primarily differ in the auto-focus and the SL3 has 4k video.

I saw a "T7" package at Costco, it appears to be a T7i exterior with the older auto-focus module, there could be some other difference but the price jump to a T7i seems inexplicable. I have no idea why Canon is marketing that in this world of diminishing dSLR sales but Canon seems to persistently market old tech in new boxes as new models in just about everything they sell. Works for them I guess.

What frustrates me most about the T7i is that the sensor is just not as good as the competition, specifically Nikon in the optical dSLR realm, and no better than its predecessors other than what is ultimately an irrelevant bump in megapixel count.

To some degree noise is in the eye of the beholder so what irks me might not matter to someone else.  This has all been covered in formal reviews, so not any news here and not just my opinion.

Again, you might want to look at the SL3 before you buy. If you are willing/able to switch systems there are better options out there.
