Video 4K, 1080p, finished share question

I searched the forum and did not find the answer to this question.

I have an X-H1 and just started with video recording. The most likely resolution when I finally share a video with friends will be either 720p or 1080p regular HD.

Will the detail and quality of the final shared video as described above be better if the original recording in camera is 4K or will FHD suffice?

I can record in 4K and later export to the lower resolution on the Mac. If FHD is adequate the recordings will use less space on the SD card.

Thanks
