My favorite stuff to do is street and landscape photography. I have no goals to do weddings/events, but getting better at portraits in a street sort of way is something I'm interested in getting better at as well. For me this is still more of a hobby than career, although, I do want to get to the point of being able to sell prints or possibly even publish a book someday.

I've been using my R for hobbyist portraiture and street/landscapes and it works phenomenally. The flip-out screen and ergonomics make it so I rarely have to worry about the camera and can just focus on composition and framing. I also use it professionally for video and weddings/event work and I haven't run into any issues there, just in case you do step into that world in the future.

It didn't take me much time to acclimate to the control layout as I had been previously using the M50, but if you're coming from a DSLR it may be enough to throw you off for a bit. But once you get the camera setup exactly how you want it, using it is completely second nature. I don't own any RF lenses, but I use the control ring adapter and it makes every shooting situation a breeze.

I don't have any experience with the 5D3 but I can say the EOS R is worth every penny I spent on it. And you can find one with a pretty significant discount at this point on ebay/etc.
