What should a flash for macro be capable of?

Hi!

I would like to get into macro a little bit, with a reversed AF-P 18-55 kit lens and my D5500, and I guess what I can benefit from is a flash. It's nice to have a flash anyway in general, but I don't want to spend too much on it, so I've checked out 3 cheaper ones:

Viltrox JY-680A
Meike MK-930 II
Andoer AD-560 II

I have no experience with flashes at all, but as far as I see these are all decent basic flashes. But what else a flash should be capable of when used with macro?

The only thing I can think of is that it's not possible to point these flashes down - asking because of the short focus distance -, but maybe that's fine? (I don't know if it's possible with any flashes at all)

And one extra question. Is it fine to use the flash on camera and to bounce / diffuse the light or should it also be used off camera? Because then I will need a cable or wireless trigger as well I guess.

Thanks in advance!
