This is my favorite portrait lens. I first discovered the capability of the Tamron 85mm f/1.8 SP VC on my 5DMIV. It focused really well and never hunted. Stabilization works very well too. I can take shots with high keeper rate at 1/10 - 1/20.

On both the R and the RP, this is still my preferred lens. No issues at all. Works like native. The only downside is that Canon DPP grays out the digital lens optimizer when editing images taken with a non-Canon lens.
