Hi all,

I just bought the R, but when unpacking I found the battery to be completely drained. The R didnt even show a "empty battery" message, it just didnt react to the battery at all.

Did anyone else have this experience?

The reason Im asking, is the lithium-ion batteries can easily degrade when the voltage becomes low enough (low charge on the battery). Storing the battery for months(?) without a charge on it seems like an error from Canons part.

FYI, the R was bought at a reputable store in Norway, and everything inside the box was packaged as expected.

Also, the canon manual says nothing on this topic. And canon support was "I dont' know, that sounds strange. Just charge it up I guess" (translated quote, canon support).

And lastly: Yes, upgrading from the 6d to the R was fantastic (especially wrt to focusing, both auto and manual focus).

The R did not come with an empty battery when I bought it a few months ago. The RP did, thus the store personnel had to charge the battery before we could even power it up.
