Somewhere during a recent trip, my M5 mode dial also fell off. By the time I noticed, it was long gone. The camera modes can still be selected but there is no visual feedback from the dial. Is this a normal repair issue? Any idea what it might cost to repair?

Considering the ergonomic flaw where I keep activating the Menu button with the base of my thumb when I hold the camera with my right hand, I wonder if it would be worthwhile to repair or consider another backup camera body.

My repair was free since the M5 was still under warrantee. It is worth noting that while they claim warrantee is 12 months, they told me that they will often give a couple more months of grace. I would call them and ask. M5's need to go to Virginia, though not Irvine.

They glue it on so it probably isn't too bad -- but then again, it's Canon so who knows.
