EOS 800D with Tamron 150-600mm Lens

Hi All,

Up to now I've been using the mirrorless EOS M series of cameras. Currently an M6 with the add on viewfinder.

This works fine for most of my photography, but I struggle when using my Tamron 150-600mm lens. Specifically the focus tends to hunt when the contrast is low and takes some time to lock, by which time the animal that I was trying to shoot has run off or flown away.

So I think its time I bought a DSLR for the job as I understand focusing is much quicker.

I am considering the EOS 800D, but I've been advised that I'll probably need a camera with AFMA that the 800D doesn't have (something that's not required with mirrorless cameras).

So my question is are any of you good people using the 800D with such a long lens? Is the lack of AFMA ever a problem.

I guess if AFMA is needed then I need to consider the 80D, but that is a much older design of camera and has many features I just won't use. And more importantly is its going to cost much more.
