I own a G9 and I like it a lot, but even I don't think you can blame the EM1 2 for this. If you set the focus point on the rabbit it surely would have focused on it. If camera shake is the problem, was IS turned on? Maybe a higher ISO was needed to increase shutter speed?

If you don't want to provide any guidance to the camera you need to be willing to accept what it gives you. If focus point was wrong, you could select it. Otherwise don't be mad that it might not focus on the tiny object you think should be the subject.
