Charged the batteries and did a short session of a few pictures to see if everything still works fine.

The colorfull result:

OOC jpe

I'm happy, TTL works like a charm. To bad Sony did not continue this feature on the A6xxxx series.

Nice colourful shot , good detail .

Thank you

I take it you operated the Metz 15 MS-1 wireless TTL ?

Yes, I selected WL in the menu, with the flash up, it does TTL with the Metz Flash (channel set to all)

How do you mean Sony didn't continue this feature ?

Until today after many try-outs I still haven't found a way to get my 6300 to work WL with the Metz, without taking advantage of a external flash like Sony HVL-f20m. The bodies flash disables WL when it is up, when adding a 5600HS with hotshoe adapter and set to WL, it does not work.

Sony didn't change any functions of the Minolta 5600HS/D when used with a digital camera .

The Minolta 5600HS/D flash followed on from the 5400HS and 5400xi flash units that could act as a wireless flash controller on compatible film bodies like the Dynax 9 & 7 and the first two digital cameras , the Dimage RD-175 (from 1985 ) and Vectis V-mount DiMage RD-3000 ( from 1999 ) .

These still used the same metering method as film cameras TTL-OTF ( well not true OTF - Off The Film , as they have a sensor !)

.

When Minolta brought out later digital cameras , the A-mount Dynax 7d and the DiMage 7 series as well as from the DiMage A1 range onward's , they changed the protocols .

So although the flash guns function correctly on camera , and the cameras can control the off camera flashes TTL via the built in flashes , they can't use the 5600HS/D as the controller .

When Sony took over nothing changed .

The Minolta 5600HS/D and 3600HS/D just got re-badged for sale with the Sony a100 and later a700 to the Sony HVL-F36AM and 56AM .

When the a900 came out , without a built in flash , Sony had to come up with something .

Minolta had the "Minolta Wireless Flash Controller" that came out with the Dynax 9xi , to trigger flashes wirelessly , shame Sony didn't just update it , and that won't work with digital .

Instead the three options are the tiny Sony HVL-F20AM with the iISO hot shoe , you would need the later Sony HVL-F20M version .

They then came out with the ( much bigger ) Sony HVL-F58AM and Sony HVL-F43AM both with the iISO shoe to act as controllers .

They also have some large flashguns with the new style hot shoe ( multi interface thingymajig ) , but on an a6xxx model they would be very top heavy .

So get the Sony HVL-F20AM to use on iISO fit digital bodies from the Dynax 7d onward's , or the Sony HVL-F20M for use on cameras with the MIS shoe .

Apart from the adapter you have to mount the iIso shoe flash guns onto later MIS fit bodies , you can also get a an adapter to go the other way , so if you get the later flash gun you can still use it on earlier bodies .

.

I have the NEX 7 , and it works the same way as the a6xxx units with regards wireless TTL flash .

Only the A mount cameras control remote flashes with the on board flash for wireless TTL flash , not sure why the E-mount gear can't .

E-mount bodies can still use wireless TTL flash controlled by a suitable separate flash , so not a total loss .

Think I have to add a hvl if I like to us ttl.

For a suitable flash , look at this one ;

Thanks a lot for the extra info and answer

Your welcome .
