How in the heck did you come to that conclusion? You should definitely recheck the manual. And, if you don't believe what it says, perform a simple experiment.

The following 2 sequences were taken using both S-AF and C-AF in low sequential mode (3 fps) with a single small AF target. These are the first, middle and last images from the sequence.

S-AF mode

S-AF 1st shot

S-AF mid burst

S-AF last image

It's obvious focus and exposure were locked when the shutter was half pressed

C-AF mode

C-AF 1st shot

C-AF mid burst

C-AF last image

As expected, focus and exposure adjusts with scene changes
