Viewer for this type of 3D?

Re: samsung cover

What type of 3D do they use for the book, I'm thinking that laser 3D was used but they mainly use that on just the covers of books.

side-by-side photographs, like a stereo card printed on the page.  There is a plastic viewer in the back cover to help you view the images.  The author also explains how you can train your eyes to view the images in 3D without any optical device.  This is called free viewing.  If you learn how to do that, you can do the same thing with side-by-side images on a phone -- may 3D nuts do this as well.  It doesn't take the place of a really nice viewer with good optics, but it is a handy skill to be able to see the 3D in a side-by-side image.  I've never been able to master it myself.
