Sorry, what is "aocrn" ?! I figured it was a typo but still can't guess what you meant.

Yes I realise an oversize filter will block the lens hood.

Good news! The lens arrived and unexpectedly came with a multicoated slim Hoya 77mm CPL that wasn't mentioned on the listing. So I will be able to try it for free and hopefully it will do just fine. As for the ND filter, since it is a simpler filter than a CPL, I think I will just go with 77mm as well.
