Hello—I have opp to get used SX50 at a very nice price. Was looking at SX70 since I liked its weight and viewfinder better than the SX60. Liked the SX70 a lot based on brief look indoors. Will be shooting birds (zoom) and rare plants (Macro). Seen a lot of middling reviews for the SX 70.
Anyone whose used both 70 and 50 know if substantial differences? Know the 50 is old now but considered better for stills than the 60. How is 50 in dim light?
Looked at Nikon P900 but too heavy for long rugged hikes with binoculars. I’ll always wear my bins.
Thsnks!
..First of all, congrats on your (new to you) SX50 camera!
..the SX50 is a "tried & true" camera, and is really considered to be "venerable" status..
..in my collection, I have the SX50 SX60 SX70 cameras, and the overall image qualities between these three are very comparable..
..the biggest difference between the SX50 & SX70, is the SX50 is 12mp, and the SX70 is 20mp..
..the advantage of the SX50 being 12mp, because many believes the 12mp is a "sweet spot" for these sensors, which will produce the best & sharpest images..
..the advantage of the SX70, is the newer technology advancements that's within..
..but let the truth be known, that the 12mp sensor is still the "sweet spot"..
..so recommend for you to practice practice practice..
..and here, take a reading of the below website, good idea of what a wildlife photographer thinks of the SX50 camera..
