AF with FTZ - not as good?

Sorry if this has been covered.

I have the 35, 50 and kit lens from the S lenses, and the beautiful 105mm 1.4 that I am using with the FTZ.

The adapted lens seems to deliver noticeably worse AF performance, much slower to lock, much more missed focus.  I am not concerned as this is not a fast use lens for me, but the difference seems significant - is this to be expected, and if so I am interested in what at play that is making it different?

As I mentioned, it's not a big issue, I am curious more than anything.  It will be interesting to see if eye AF is much better on native lenses - I am looking forward to that update.
