EOS R w/70-200 or 100-400 Image Stabilization?

When using either the 70-200mm 2.8 L or 100-400 L, the image stabilization stays on as long as the camera body is powered.  This occurs in either One Shot or Servo auto Focus.  Using these lens on my DSLRs, the Image Stabilization is only on/active while the camera is focusing (shutter button is being pressed).

I assume that walking around with the image stabilization on all the time would be a drain on the battery.

Anyone know of EOS R setting that could resolve this?  Asked Canon and they confirmed that the IS does stay on and they thought it was interesting.  Said they would look into it.

Thoughts, comments?

Thanks,

RussRoc
