Color Denoising for a Quanta Image Sensor
6

For those that may be interested, here is the first work on a color QIS, which is really about image denoising in a photon-counting image sensor where Poisson statistics are part of the denoising algorithm.

This work was done by my startup Gigajot in collaboration with Stanley Chan's group at Purdue.

No sensor-level work was done on crosstalk measurements or color quality or nearly any of the usual things one would care about. That will be done and reported separately.  But the light levels are rather weak, just a few photons per pixel per frame on average.

Actually, weird to not be a co-author since the chips came from my group at Dartmouth, but in fact I did not make a contribution to this paper aside from that. Also, Arxiv papers are not peer-reviewed and would be substantially improved by a peer-review process, including this one. That will likely come soon, too.
