P900 at the Pinckney National Wildlife Refuge in SC

Just when I was starting to question whether or not I should keep my P900, a day like today happens. I knew I'd have the opportunity for some bird shots and some scenery so, rather than take my fairly compact Sony A6000 and an 18-135 lens, I figured the P900 would give me much greater flexibility. I've always had mixed luck with its IQ, but it was a bright day ... which means no low light woes.

So, all things considered, the P900 did better than I expected with a very high hit rate, even on some birds in flight shots. If you keep this camera in its sweet spot, it really can do quite well. No I am not giving up my Canon DSLR or my mirrorless Sony since they can do many things my P900 really can't. But, the P900 does fill a niche that, at times, can be a tremendous asset.
