Priority set in AF-C

Hi,

There is a setting "priority set in AF-C" on my Sony 6500, which I never bothered. I use my camera mostly for video but recently I've tried to shot flying birds, and none of the pictures were perfectly sharp. There is an option to set priority to "AF" which releases the shutter when the object is in focus (according to what manual says). My setting is default, "balanced emphasis" which I understand as a kind of compromise between focus and release. Does it make sense what I'm thinking that making change to AF as a priority will improve sharpness in such a kind of situations?
