Yet again about focusing

i own a nikkn d7200 camera which offers following focusing modes with af area modes

AF Single

AF continuous with 9 point or 21 point or 51 points or 3r tracking or auto area modes

AF auto

I use back button focusing

I shoot landscapes, streets, and kids playing (involves erratically running around)

i have set camera on AF-C / 21 points dynamic area mode...for any and all kinds of shooting,.i never change this..

before every frame (portraits or landscapes) i press back button and focus...for shooting of playing kids..i keep the back button pressed while click on the shutter release button...

sometime i miss focus othertimes

now the question i doing anything wrong ? When to use other area modes ?

Af-c 21 points area mode could work in all situations i described above ?

Many thanks for the help

( yes i have gone through manual but found it confusing)

Nikon D7200
