The dreadful: TURN THE CAMERA OFF AND TURN IT ON AGAIN

My fuji x70 started to exhibit the: TURN THE CAMERA OFF AND TURN IT ON AGAIN symptom anytime I tried to take picture close than a meter or so. Nothing helped.

Sent it to fuji - they had to replace the whole lens assembly according to the log.

The new assembly is however really, really noisy during the focusing - almost a grinding sound. Like when the lens is rearranging itself after the error appears and you switch it off - But now it makes that same grinding sound constantly during the focusing.

Well, who am I to argue, at least it does work without throwing idiotic error. But I say something fishy is about the fuji lens assemblies - the error is rather uncomfortably prevalent with the new fixed assemblies as I learned searching on internet. (sometimes it goes away for some time by its own)
What was more strange the camera started exhibit this error right after literally sitting for few months unused. Definitely not an error form using it too much....

After X100t this is my second fuji camera that needed serious repair. I had many models of sony, panasonic, olympus and canon - none needed repair ever. And I was far less gentle with them than with fujis and actually lending them to kids for schools etc...

When my x100t went to the repair (it was completely dead in a week of using it) , I said - "it was going to happen one day with so many cameras, right?". It was a serious repair - they had to change almost all the internals and it took a good month.
Now a second fuji X went to the service. Hmm....
I'd say the odds of a repair happening with two fuji x is now significant beyond just mere coincidence.

And now I learned that the idea that fuji x has 2 years warranty is just my imagination (it used to be when first x100 and xpro1 were introduced, but it is no longer valid for some years). It is now 1 year for everything. Ugh...

I am just suggesting that if you are thinking about buying second hand fuji x without warranty - honestly don't. If you can get warranty extension - do it by all means when buying new.

Also if this error starts to happen, even if it goes away - don't wait till warranty is over, talk to the service now, use your warranty.

I was actually previously eyeing some x100F on kijiji, but a non-warranty repair would easily eat all the savings or more and I no longer believe that it won't happen tree times.
