"Generic" film emulations?
1

I've played around with film emulation presets or filters from a number of sources, some of which have worked better than others. Lately it's been CLUT files applied with RawTherapee. However, there are some quirks that I keep running into that I haven't yet found any explanation for, despite some attempts to search. For example, there's "Kodak Kodachrome 64" and there's "Kodak Kodachrome 64 Generic". There's "Fuji Astia 100F" and there's "Fuji Astia 100 Generic". What's do they mean by generic?

I'm also seeing some that come with a bunch of different variations that I don't understand the logic of. For example…

  • Kodak Portra 160 -1
  • Kodak Portra 160 2
  • Kodak Portra 160 3+
  • Kodak Portra 160 4++

uhh… Are these supposed to represent pushing or pulling the film?  And if so, why isn't there a neutral "0" version?  Or is it something completely different?
