Re: Why Not Use A 21 Year Old 70-200mm F2.8??? Review

Just as I figured, Mike. Sigma hit some real high spots in the EX thru the EX DG era, such that they never actually changed the optics. I know the Sigma 300/2.8 APO had exactly the same lenses as the EX and EX DG versions. And like the 70-200/2.8 it was when they started searching for things like Macro and just plain close-focus it cost them in other areas. I will never sell my EOS mount Sigma 100-300/4 EX IF HSM (pre-DG) because while in general the Canon 100-400L II is a little better its not 3x better than the $800 I paid for the Sigma. And its still fast enough to shoot motorsports fast. As long as I can keep a compatible camera under it since it can't be upgraded. I think I need to start looking for a Sigma 70-200/2.8 EX DG for myself to use on my K-1.
