What makes Leica lnses so good?
1

Not a troll question, I've never owned anything Leica or Lumix our staff photographer used all Nikon, contract photographer Pentax 67, and personally I just have a Canon with Canon lenses and 1 Zeiss I picked up from someone who was getting rid of his stuff so he gave me what seemed like a reasonable price. On B&H in their "used" section I clicked Leica to see what the 7 used lenses were.

The used 50mm is $7,199.95

……..I'm guessing this is a pretty good lens.

The 24 2.8 is $2,999.95

I can definitely compare prices on this because I've owned the Canon 24 and that Zeiss is the 21.

Canon 24 1.4L (MK I purchased before the MKII was released) $1,200

Zeiss 21 2.8 $600

I'm not doubting the quality, I'm just wondering more about it. Is it comparable to the Canon 200mm 1.8 that was manufactured for a time then discontinued due to the manufacturing and lead?
