Very true.  I've never denied that.  I rented the Sigma 150-600 C for one of my trips and the extra reach came in handy on more than one occasion.

I think for arguments sake and this thread, however, that the fact that you can by a used Canon 300mm f4 L IS for around $700 in excellent condition, you can't go wrong.  The image quality will definitely be much better, and will have better low light performance, and takes a TC very well.

I wanted to love my Sigma 100-400 C, but no matter how many adjustments I made, it just didn't make me happy.  I do have a 17-70mm f2.8-4 C Sigma lens that I absolutely love, so I'm not picky with my brands.  I just want images that I am happy with.
