My 35-100 f2.8 version 1 does not apply focus correction. Version 2 does?

Zoom in to max, place focus area/point on the subject you wish to keep in focus,

AF with back button (disable shutter AF),

now zoom out, the subject will remain in focus.

Start filming, and zooming! Obviously as I said you need to disable the shutter AF - so AF just on back button, and only AF fully zoomed in. Should work.

Thanks. I did this briefly last night at a very close distance and it worked. I want to test more at regular recording distances and see how it goes.

So I tested my 35-100 2.8 version 1 does not apply focus correction. I've tried a few tests with different settings, and at different focal distances. With AF on, but continuous AF off: if I zoom in, focus, and then zoom out the focus plane will change.

My 12-35 2.8 version 2 may apply focus correction (or it is parafocal or close to it). I've tried a couple tests, and when I zoom out it appears the focal plan does not change. Even in manual focus mode, it appears the focal plane does not change. It could simply be that there is much more in focus at the wide angle so I can't detect a shift.

Does anyone have a version 1 of the 35-100 f2.8 - can you test if it does or does not seems to apply focus correction? Does anyone know if the version 1 to version 2 upgrade of these lenses included this ability?  This would be a big selling point for me, I'd upgrade.  Or perhaps my lens is defective.
