Hi All,

I have done plenty of searching on this but yet to find the answer I am looking for. I purchased the Z6 for an upcoming Yosemite and Grand Canyon trip, although this will be twelve months away, I'm trying to put together a kit before then.

I currently have the 24-70mm f4 Z lens and an older 50mm F1.8 with FTZ adaptor. I plan on saving for the 14-30mm f4 z to add aswell. I know there is a 70-200mm Z mount lens coming out before I go, but I think the price and weight will rule this one out.

I am currently trying to decide if I should go with a Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED or the Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/4.0 ED as a travel zoom lens. I know these will be adapted, but there is not much choice at the moment. At this stage I am on a pretty tight budget, but don't want to buy something that I will want to replace anytime soon.

Thanks Toby

Hi!

24-200 mm focal lengths on full frame will cover a lot (but not all) of what I typically use in Yosemite (see examples)

As a few others have alluded to, your photo opportunities will be much better if you have a decent tripod. It will allow for photos at lower ISO's and/or longer exposures,

From Yosemite (to give you an idea of some focal lengths used):

35 mmNIKON 24-70MM F/2.8G ED AF-S N

ISO 250 - 1/60 at f/8.0 35mm

NIKON CORPORATION, NIKON D438 mmNIKON 24-70MM F/2.8G ED AF-S N

ISO 2000 - 1/30 at f/16.0 38mm

NIKON CORPORATION, NIKON D4105 mmNIKON AF-S FX 105MM F/1.4 ED

ISO 200 - (1/160) at f/1.4 105mm (Taken hand held from car)

This one was shot with a tripod and a neutral density filter allowing a long exposure (1.6 sec) resulting in smoothing the water:

ISO 200 - 1.600 s at f/13 105mm

And on the shorter end of focal length....
