Re: Recommended Travel tripod for M100 + 200mm lens

Interesting to see your post.

I own some type of Q666C (I think it was sold under the brand name Freelander) .   I've had it for 3 years.  It's ok.  I wouldn't consider it a great tripod  but it's pretty light and gets the job done.  Just need to make sure everything is tightened down well and i'll often set the 2 second timer when taking a shot.    My only real complain is that if you accidentally loosen the legs too much the legs fall out and it's a royal pain to put them back together.  Nice combo with my M3.

Now, i could be mistaken, but I'm fairly certain the Q666C are not the same as the Manfrotto  Element.  There was someone who talked at my local camera club the other night and he had a Manfrotto Element. I took a really good look at it because I want something a little more compact than my Q666.  Unless my tripod is not a Q666C, the Manfrotto Element looked a little more compact (width) and has thinner center column and legs.

I'm actually considering adding another more compact tripod to my collection the TP166 or Q166 or Q166C .  I'm still undecided however but i'm finding myself increasingly frustrated with the gorilla pod because i can never  find  a way (place to attach it)  to position it high enough.
