f/1.2 Lens Size

Bear with me, this isn't a complaint. More of a curiosity that came up when I was pondering lenses in the system.

Why are the Micro 4/3 lenses with wide apertures so big? For instance, the Olympus 25mm f/1.2 is much larger than the Canon 50mm f1.8, despite the Canon having a larger physical maximum aperture. Is there something intrinsic about the ratio that requires a larger lens, regardless of the actual aperture size?

Or maybe it has nothing to do with aperture size? Maybe it is just that an f/1.2 lens is also going to have other features (build quality, weather sealing, optical qualities) that increase size?

Anyone have any thoughts?
