Canon Warranty

I've noticed that private sellers on the big auction site sometimes say that the body they're selling hasn't been used, is just like new, and comes with a U.S. warranty. They usually show the warranty card in one or more of the photos, indicating it hasn't been filled out or returned to Canon. Does this really mean the new owner will have a valid factory warranty? I looked at Canon's online professional camera warranty, and it reads, in part, as follows:

"Canon U.S.A., Inc. and Canon Canada Inc. (collectively "Canon") warrant to the original endā€user purchaser, when delivered in new condition in its original container..."

This appears to say only the original purchaser is covered by the warranty. Is there in fact a workaround that a second purchaser could use to obtain warranty service? Is the warranty card itself enough to accomplish this? Or is this a case of sellers simply attempting to maximize the price?
