Are you all using the small focus box right? This improves the situation somewhat

What do you mean?

I suspect all those people have faded away from the forum in the last 4 years.....

With the E-P5 you can choose to use a small single centre focus box and do the half press focus, hold and re-frame, then full press to shoot. It's the way that I've used all cameras.

As for finding the single AF box, press Left, then Info and then Up/Down (or the rear dial) changes the focus box setup, and Left/Right (or the front dial) changes the face detection setup.

Otherwise use touch screen AF (optional touch AF and shoot) and set the focus box to the smallest size. Enable touch AF then use the slider on the right side of the screen to set the box size.

The two focus schemes are separate, can have the usual default shutter button AF scheme as anything and keep the small AF box for the touch screen use.

On all cameras I have found that using the single small centre box is the most reliable way to AF. Despite that, again all cameras may do some totally unexpected and stupid AF about 1 in 1,000 shots. If it happens a lot more often than that the try other lenses and other AF schemes and maybe even getting it fixed.

Regards.... Guy
