Canon EOS R - Controlling Strobes wirelessly?

I'm an architectural and interior design photographer.

My main setup was the canon 5D3, camranger, pocket wizard plus 3 transmitter, and tripod shooting wirelessly to a laptop. In my process one final photograph would be comprised of multiple captures composited in post. Some of the captures would utilize strobes, and others available light. Because of my process, I need the camera absolutely still.

In the Camranger application, normal captures would trigger the strobes while live view captures would not. I would quickly be able to switch between capturing strobed images and available light. There would be no fussing with the trigger on the camera, or walking to the strobes to turn them on/off. In some shots I don't have the ability to get to the strobe due to the camera being in the way so this was a great solution.

Recently I purchased the EOS R and can no longer do this. Was on the phone with a Canon rep, and we couldn't come up with a solution. Supposedly in the EOS Utility app, one can control whether the hotshoe would fire if it's a canon "compatible" product.

Is there a way to wirelessly turn on or off third party strobes the EOS R? I don't want to touch the camera so there aren't any discrepancies between captures. Some of the final images I work on are more than a 100 captures.

The only possible solution I can think of is to purchase a hotshoe sync cord to mini plug. Attach that to the hotshoe, and plug the transmitter to that for firing and unplug to stop triggering the strobes.

I don't love this solution as I'm trying to keep my workflow streamlined. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
