NX1 + 16-50 S does Maple Sugaring Season

For the last month I have been involved in using traditional methods to create Maple Syrup from the sap of Sugar Maple trees at Westmoreland Sanctuary in New York's Lower Hudson Valley. The season (un-officially*) ended this weekend with SugarFest, a celebration of the month long effort with Pancake Breakfasts and Demonstrations. The entire time my NX1 with the 16-50mm S lens has been by my side and I have created a 46 image photo essay following the pursuit. Unlike my similar essay two years ago making Maple Syrup with a little more modern methods at Teatown (with my Canon equipment), this journey covers the use of outside fire pits that add a subtle but wonderful taste to the Syrup. If you'd like to take a look, the gallery is linked here:
2019 Maple Sugaring at Westmoreland Sanctuary
*as long as the weather cooperates with cold nights and enough sunny days, the sap will still move up and down the trees and release some into the pails. Unfortunately global warming continues to disrupt the normal weather cycles, making the trees react as if it's already further into Spring. The sap no longer comes back down at night, as it's needed to feed the budding leaves.
